Areez Katki’s exhibition, The Rhapsode’s Tools Will Build the Rhapsode’s House, is a deeply personal and evocative exploration of lineage, language, and care.
Katki’s approach to art making is deeply rooted in his Parsi upbringing and the systems of care that shaped his understanding of learning. By weaving together elements of history, spirituality, and personal heritage, Katki crafts an exhibition that is both intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant. It offers a profound meditation on the ways in which art can serve as a bridge between generations, cultures, and philosophies.
The Rhapsode’s Tools Will Build the Rhapsode’s House speaks to Katki’s commitment to storytelling through materiality. The exhibition includes embroidered handkerchiefs and clay tiles serve as vessels for memory, embodying the tenderness and resilience of ancestral narratives.
This work was first presented as part the 2024 Personal Structures exhibition in Venice.
